As an electrical engineer, Vivek saw how innovative teams solve hard problems by moving fast and collaborating constantly. Policies, legal hurdles, and business processes were rarely top of mind when momentum mattered most.
He later spent more than 15 years practicing IP law as a litigator and in-house IP risk manager, advising technology companies on how to protect their intellectual property. That experience revealed the hidden cost of open collaboration. Business relationships eventually end, and when they do, companies are often left with a familiar unease: a former partner now has deep access to their know-how, and enforcing legal rights after the fact is difficult, expensive, and uncertain.
Companies are forced to choose between frictionless collaboration and IP protection. NDAs alone are not enough, and relying on employees to consistently apply legal best practices is not ideal. Tradelok stems from the belief that companies should not have to choose.
